The phenolic compound had been isolated from ethyl acetate fraction from the bark of tembesu (Fragraea fragrans Roxb) by stationer phase were the gel silica G 60 (70 - 230 mesh). Spectroscopy showed the phenolic compound had three units aromatic and aldhyde group. The phenolic compound inhibited microbial growth : Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aurugenosa, Shigella dysentriae and Trichophyton mentagrophtes at concentration 1000 ppm at MeOR
