KINERJA PENGGUNAAN XM-18 PADA MESIN PENETAS TELUR TIPE RAK TERHADAP MORTALITAS EMBRIO TELUR DAN UMUR MENETAS
The egg incubator is a form of technology development in agriculture which is a solution to increasing the productivity of poultry in breeding. The success of hatching eggs using an egg incubator can be observed, one of which is the percentage of egg embryo mortality. The mortality of egg embryos upon hatching is influenced by environmental conditions suitable for embryo development. Environmental conditions such as temperature and relative humidity are important factors in the success of hatching eggs. This research was carried out at the Workshop and Agricultural Machinery Laboratory, Department of Agricultural Technology and Experimental Farm Laboratory of Animal Science Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University from July 2020 to August 2020. Experimental method was applied with descriptive data analysis. Observed parameters in this study were temperature, relative humidity, fertility, embryo mortality, and hatching time. The highest average temperature in the incubator was 37,73 °C and the lowest was 37,38 °C. While the highest average environmental temperature was 32,20 °C and the lowest was 27,20 °C. The lowest average relative humidity in the incubator was 52,50% and the highest was 67,50%. Meanwhile, the lowest average relative humidity was 68,50% and the highest was 90,50%. The temperature and relative humidity of the environment do not significantly affect the temperature and relative humidity in the incubator. The percentage of egg fertility used was 76,67% of 30 eggs. The percentage of embryo mortality was 8,70%. The percentage of hatching age of broiler chicken eggs occurred on the 20th day of 14,29%, the 21st day of 61,90%, the 22nd day of 19,05%, the 23rd day of 4,76%. The high percentage of hatching time of day old chicken (DOC) on the 21st day of 61,90% indicates that the XM-18 incubator control works well in maintaining the ideal temperature and relative humidity for embryos to develop normally.
