The objective of the research was to know Ihe elfect ol cloves powder toward cowpea weevil, Callosobruchus chinensis L., in cowpea storage. conducted in the Laboratory of Badan Urusan Logistik. Regional Division of SouthThe research wasSumatera, from August to November 2004.The study used Completely Randomized Design with five treatments and fivereplications. These Five treatments were: A (100 g of cowpea without anv clovepowder). B (100 g of cowpea with 1 g of clove powder). C (100 g of cowpea with 2 gof clove powder), D (100 g of cowpea with 3 g of clove powder). E (100 g of cowpeawith 4 g of clove powder).The observarion parameter of this study were the percentage of the mortality of adults, the amount of cowpea eggs, the population of larva, the population of pupa, the population of adults, and the percentage of the attack of cowpea w'eevil Callosobruchus chinensil L.The result of this study show'ed that clove powder could influence the grov/th and population of cowpea weevils Callosobruchus chinensis L. in stored grains. Clove powder treatments w-ith different dosages could influence the mortality of adults more dosage of the clove pow'der given caused higher cowpea weevil. Clovepowder treatmenls could influence thc amount of eggs, population of larvae.populaiion of pupac, population of adults, and the allack of cowpea weevils. The more dosage of clovc powder given, the les. thc amount of eggs, population of larvae. pupae and adult. and the attack of cowpca weevil.
