Background: Caesarean section delivery is a medical procedure needed to be performed if there is a complication and life-threatening situation for the health and safety of the mother and her baby. This procedure refers to a surgery for childbirth by surgical incisions made on the abdomen and the uterus in order for the delivery to take place. Caesarean section delivery is performed when a vaginal delivery is not possible or safe. The purpose of this study was to analyze the prevalence rate and the relationship between risk factors and caesarean section delivery at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin from 2018 – 2020.
Method: This study uses a cross-sectional observational analytic study using secondary data. The data was then taken from the medical records which resulted in a total of 99 patients that fit the inclusion criteria. The sampling technique was consecutive sampling with univariate and bivariate data analysis and computerized data processing with the chi-square test.
Results: From 99 samples, the highest frequency distribution was found based on 20-35 year old mothers (70.7%), multipel birth (88,9%), no post-term pregnancy (98.0%), no previous caesarean deliveries (68.7%), no fetal distress (84.0%), no dystocia (81.8%), no oligohidramnion (68.7%), no prolonged second stage (91.9%), no antepartum hemorrhage (82.8%), no preeclampsia (80.8%), and no premature rupture of membranes (75,8%). There is a substantial relationship between fetal distress and previous caesarean delivery with cesarean section delivery (P-value < 0.05).
Conclusion: There is a substantial relationship between fetal distress and previous caesarean delivery with caesarean section delivery.
