Ovarian cancer in one of the most common cancers. Neutrophils as one of the immune cells turns out play an important role in both development dan inhibiton of tumor based on their phenotype. This study aims to compare the Tumor- Associated Neutrophils (TAN) in the tumor microenvironment based on the clinical and histopathological characteristics of ovarian cancer pastients at the Anatomical Pathology Department, RSUP dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang.
The type of research that was used is an observational analytic study with cross-sectional study design. The sample used was paraffin block of malignant ovarian tumor tissue that was stained with HE and has clinical and histopathological data of patients recorded at the Medical Record Department. TANs observations were carried oyt by identifying the morphology of neutrophils infiltrating the tumor microenvironment, both stromal and intratumoral. The results of the calculation of TANs in the intratumor and stroma of the tumor microenvironment then analyzed statistically and correlated with the clinical and histopatholgical properties of ovarian cancer patients. In this study, a significant results were obtained on the correlation between intratumoral TAN with age (p=0.038). The correlation between intratumor and stromal TAN with other clinical and histopathological properties does not shows significant results. The results of bivariate analysis showed that there was a significant comparison between intratumoral and stromal TAN based on age (p=0.038/0.924). Comparison between intratumoral and stromal TAN based on other clinical and histopathological properties does not shows significant comparisons.
