Jambi city is one of the many tourism destinations in Jambi Province. Department of Culture and Tourism stated that the number of tourist visits had increased from 5,378 international tourists in 2017 to 10,887 tourists in 2018 or by 102,44 percent. Along with the increase in tourists and efforts to develop leading tourist destination on Lake Sipin by the Jambi City Government, the planning of the hotel resort area is strategic enough to attract local and international tourists. However, there is still very few Resort Hotels in Jambi City. This is what causes the author to be interested in designing a Resort Hotel that can accommodate tourists who want to relax or have a recreation with a planning goal to design a Resort Hotel area with a modern tropical approach that is expected to respond well to the site and the climate. The result of this planning is to review the pattern of site processing, the concept of space requirements, materials, structures and building utilities that consider the tropical climate in the waters(lakes) that are in accordance with the functional building layout pattern.
