The aim of the research was to investigate the species and the number of trapped fruit flies and effectivity period of methyl eugenol to trap Bactrocera spp. on star fruit. The research was conducted in Kecamatan Dir Barat 1 Palembang covermg 5 areas, from March to May 2006. The research was arranged in Completely Randomized Block Design with five treatments and five replications. The observations were species of fruit flies, number of fruit flies trapped and effectivity period of methyl eugenol The results showed that the dose of 1.25 ml trapped the highest number of adults fruit flies and the dose of 0.25 ml trapped the lowest one. The longest effectivity period was on the dose of 1.25 ml of methyl eugenol, while the lowest one was on the dose of 0.25 ml of methyl eugenol. The species of fruit flies had been identified i.e. Bactrocera dorsalis Hend. and Bactrocera umbrosus Fab.
