A research study that has been conducted at the Energy Technology Laboratory, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Electrical Engineering, Sriwijaya University. That is by designing a prototype automatic lamp that utilizes solar power with the help of Polycrystalline solar panels as a source of electrical energy to charge the battery to turn on the lights. The lack of even distribution of lighting in the Faculty of Engineering and the operation of lamps that are still manually made researchers conduct a study to overcome this, through the application of solar panels and an Arduino-based control system that instructs automatic relays to turn on/off the input from the Light Dependent Resistor (LDR) sensor to determine the state of day or night to turn the lights on or off. After 10 days of measurement and data retrieval taken using a datalogger, it was found that the greatest power obtained by solar panels for battery charging was on the tenth day, which was 3,307 W with an average daily solar radiation of 539,041 W/m2. The average time it takes to charge the clock battery to a full condition using a 5,2 Wp solar panel is 10 to 11 hours. Keywords: Lights, Solar Panels, LDR Sensors.
