Cities in Indonesia, including South Sumatra, cannot be separated from the market as an important component of city life. In Palembang, Sekanak Market is designated as a tourist area, Sekanak Market will be a location concern to maintain the market, preserve surrounding tourism and reactivate the floating market, which is in line with the Palembang City government plan. This strategic location is supported by the initial function of Sekanak Market as a market located in a heritage area in the city center which is close to the Palembang tourist building. So that the planning and design of the Sekanak Market which is contextual and becomes a supporting facility for tourism along the Musi River is the goal. The site is located on Depaten Baru street with 7 haritage buildings on the site, so the concept of contextual architectural design is needed by Sekanak Market. Balancing between the market and tourism, proper division of site zones is required. Themarket environment is maximized by adding function to the hertage building, without changing the form of the heritage itself. Tourism support rooms are also supported by the provision of culinary zones, tourist traders and riverside lounges. The condition of the site which is on the banks of the Sekanak River and Musi River will enable the floating market to be reactivated. Architectural elements in the main and supporting buildings will adopt the typology of the surrounding buildings with the shape of the roof, openings, and building colors to maximize the contextual architectural concept.
