Social reality is a product of construction created by humans. The fertile age couple (PUS) in Bumi Ratu village constructed the use of long-term contraception method (MKJP), this construction affected PUS participation in the use of long-term contraception method (MKJP). The purpose of this research is to understand the construction of PUS concerning the use of contraception MKJP in Bumi Ratu village. This research was analyzed by using the social construction theory of Berger and Luckmann. The research method is used a descriptive qualitative with a phenomenological research strategy. The collected data were obtained by observation, interviews, documentation, and literature study. The results of this research indicate that the construction of PUS regarding the use of MKJP contraception was motivated by several aspects such as social, economic, cultural, religious, sexuality, and health. The formation of the PUS construction consists of a processes self-adjustment, interactions and institutions, and self-identification. PUS had constructions: 1) MKJP contraception is something capable of preventing pregnancy, 2) MKJP contraception is something frightening and dangerous due to the side effects such as impotent, infertility, bleeding, uterine injury, lowered sex arousal, and menstrual scheduling instability, 3) MKJP contraception is something that causes physical changes, 4) MKJP contraception can be lost or move when it is inserted into the body,. 5) Men who use contraception are considered weak and the use of contraception is a women’s obligation.
