PT. Bumi Merapi Energi is a coal mining company that implements an open pit mining system. At the time of the mining process, coal recovery was often not in accordance with the plan. In the period January 2020 to August 2020 the total variation of coal recovery was 88.22%. This figure is below the value of coal recovery PT. Bumi Merapi Energy is 95% with a loss tolerance of 5%, this indicates losses of 6.8%. Based on the data, analysis was conducted to calculate the potential of coal losses in coal getting activities in December 2020 and the causative factors and efforts made to minimize coal losses. Conducted initial stock survey in stockpile ROM at the end of November 2020 and early December 2020. Calculate truck count data for coal getting activities in December coal that goes into the stockpile ROM and coal that will come out of the stockpile ROM based on the calculation of scales. The difference in the final stock amount of coal in the ROM stockpile based on survey activities with the previous calculation became the basis of coal recovery calculation and obtained by 91.73%. Thus, losses were indicated at 3.27% (1,632.69 tons) in loading activities of 3.19% (1,597.68 tons) and in hauling activities of 0.07% (35.01 tons). Factors of coal losses are coal that is trampled by trucks at loading points, material spilled during coal transportation due to bumpy haul road conditions, decreased ROM base stockpile. Efforts to minimize it are filling coal to the truck does not exceed the capacity of the truck, finishing the coal floor by way of coal re-fireplace left on the coal floor, closure of the vessel with tarpaulin, and conducting road grade evaluation.
