POPULASI DAN SERANGAN LALAT BUAH Bactrocera dorsalis (HENDEL) (DIPTERA: TEPHRITIRAE) SERTA POTENSI PARASITOIDNYA PADA PERTANAMAN CABAI (Capsicum annuum L.) DI DAERAH DATARAN TINGGI
Damage caused by fruitflies infestation can reach damage on average 70%. study of bioecology and behavior of fruitflies and its parasitoids are needed for better result of control as ruled by ecologically pest control method. This experiment was aimed to observe adult population of fruitflies and its damage on chili planted in highland area (1100 m above sea level) and the potency of its parasitoids as well. Laboratory and field work were carried out from September 2006 to Januari 2007. Three parameters of observation were used in this experiment. They were the number of fruitflies trapped in modified Steiner traps, assessing of the severity of damage, and keeping of infested fruits in laboratory. Fruit flies trapped were counted once a week. B. dorsalis was fruitfly species found abundantly in farm with 14.70 adults per trap per 200 m2 on 18 week after planting (wap) chili. The severest percentage of damage was found 13.15% per 200 m2 when chili was 17 wap. Psyttalia fijiensis, Psyttalia incisi, Psyttalia fletcheri and Opius sp. were natural enemies that parasitized fruit fly in farm. The apparent parasitism rates for each parasitoid were 8.18%, 25.06%, 9.31% and 1.23% respectively. P. incisi could be suggested to be applied as potential parasitoid to control B. dorsalis in highland area.
