ANALISIS SECARA IN VITRO TERHADAP AKTIVITAS ANTIOKSIDAN EKSTRAK DAUN TUMBUHAN APU-APU (Pistia stratiotes)
This research aimed to determine the effect of the type of solvents on the water lettuce (Pistia stratiotes) leaf extract on the yield, bioactive compounds and antioxidant activities. This research was carried out experimentally in a laboratory with the type of treatment consisting of 2 levels of solvent (70% ethanol and dH2O) and repeated 3 times. Parameters was measured in this study including extract yield, bioactive compounds (phenol, flavonoid and tannin), antioxidant activity test using the DPPH method and the FRAP method. The values obtained was described in the form of pictures, tables and graphs, and followed by a t-test. The yield of the water lettuce leaf extract with ethanol solvent was 16.78% and the dH2O was 16.45%. The total phenol content in the water lettuce leaf extract with ethanol solvent was 235.55 mg GAE/g dry sample and the dH2O was 70.6 mg GAE/g dry sample. The total flavonoid content in the water lettuce leaf extract with ethanol solvent was 214.96 mg QE/g dry sample and 161.4 mg QE/g dry sample with dH2O. The tannin content of the water lettuce leaf extract with ethanol solvent was 19.86 mg TAE/g dry sample and dH2O was 6.52 mg TAE/g dry sample. Antioxidant activity using the DPPH method resulted in an IC50 value of 0.459 mg/mL for water lettuce leaf extract with ethanol solvent and 1.0864 mg/mL for dH2O. Antioxidant activity with the FRAP method resulted in antioxidant activity in the water lettuce leaf extract with ethanol solvent of 118.43 μmol Fe2+ equivalent/gram dry sample and dH2O of 71.764 μmol Fe2+ equivalent/gram dry sample.
