In the current era, technology is developing very rapidly in helping humans, one of which is positioning or location service technology. In determining a position or location, generally many are familiar with a technology called GPS (Global Positioning System). In addition to GPS technology, another technology developed in positioning is Indoor Positioning or Indoor Localization which is more focused on positioning systems that are indoors because they are able to get more accurate results compared to GPS. This research will apply the Trilateration method by utilizing Wi - Fi signals based on the ESP32 microcontroller. This method is used because it is able to estimate the coordinates of the position of the object (receiver). The data used is the RSSI value data received by the receiver from the access point. The results of the position estimation using the Trilateration method of the three test coordinates, the estimation of receiver 1 coordinates obtained an average accuracy value of 81% and the highest accuracy value of 95.25%. In the estimation of receiver coordinates 2, the average accuracy value is 27.75% and the highest accuracy value is 95.75%. In the estimation of receiver coordinates 3, the average accuracy value is 80% and the highest accuracy value is 95.2%. From these results it can be concluded that the indoor positioning system by applying the Trilateration method based on the ESP32 microcontroller is able to estimate the position of the coordinates of the receiver to be quite well even though there are also error conditions or errors in estimating the position of the receiver.
