PERAN NAHDLATUL ULAMA DALAM MENGADVOKASI MINORITAS MUSLIM DI MYANMAR STUDI KASUS : MUSLIM ROHINGYA
This research describes the real role played by Nahdlatul Ulama in advocating for Muslim minorities in Myanmar in a case study: Rohingya Muslims. The Rohingya are an ethnic group living in Myanmar in the Rakhine region. Rohingya as an ethnic Muslim minority in Myanmar. Ethnic Rohingya are not considered official residents of Myanmar due to historical factors and thus the 1982 law on Myanmar citizenship does not include Rohingya as official residents of Myanmar. The Rohingya Muslim minority continues to experience ethnic discrimination from year to year. Nahdlatul Ulama as a Non-Government Organization (NGO / NGO) engaged in the socio-economic, political and religious fields sees this as a problem. For this reason, NU certainly participates in helping the Rohingya Muslim ethnic minority by means of advocating people to people with the aim that there is a solution to this problem and also through the stages of providing assistance as a concrete step taken by NU. There are two types of assistance provided by NU, namely long-term assistance and short-term assistance. Short-term assistance in the form of food, medicine, clothes, toiletries. The long-term assistance includes the construction of schools, hospitals and vocational training centers. This study uses the Multi Track Diplomacy Theory by Louis Diamond and John Mc Donald which the author uses to examine the role of advocacy through the 7th track in the theory. The data obtained by the author through qualitative methods. The result of this research is that until now Nahdlatul Ulama is still making advocacy efforts in helping the Rohingya Muslim ethnic minority. The team that handles this problem is the Nahdlatul Ulama Disaster Management and Climate Change Team from the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board
