PERUBAHAN STATUS SOSIAL EKONOMI PETANI SAYUR DI DESA CAHAYA ALAM KECAMATAN SEMENDE DARAT ULU KABUPATEN MUARA ENIM
This research examines changes in the social status of vegetable farmers in Cahaya Alam village, whose crops have not been able to make themselves and their families prosperous, but still continue to grow vegetables. The research objective was to determine changes in the socio-economic status of vegetable farmers in Cahaya Alam Village, Semende Darat Ulu District, Muara Enim Regency. This research method is qualitative. Data collection uses observation, interviews, and documentation. The theory used is Sorokin's theory of change in social status. The findings of the study were: (1) The social status of vegetable farmers in the provelise aspect of vegetable farmers is the same. They get special privileges such as trust from workers and high society, get good service and get friends who manage their land until harvest. In the aspect of prestige, vegetable farmers get high appreciation from the surrounding community, especially agricultural laborers who work, such as when speaking is heard, orders are followed, and it is easy to get help. On average, farmers get good treatment from the community and are appreciated because vegetable farmers are successful and classified as capable people, as well as their good attitude towards workers. In the aspect of power, they can move freely to use their power as land owner and have sufficient capital to employ many people in their gardens, are easier to invite people, are quick and do not experience difficulties, and are easier to use traditional and modern equipment; (2) The factors that encourage the social status of vegetable farmers are high production levels, high sales, workers who work well, and a well-coordinated place to sell their crops. The inhibiting factors are decreasing prices, limited modern equipment, and decreasing vegetable production
