This study aims to describe the social meaning of the Komering River for the community in Kedaton Village, Kayuagung District. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The subjects of this study are the Kelurahan government officials, adat leaders and the people of Kelurahan Kedaton Key informants are customary leaders and village government officials. Data collection is carried out using interview, observation and documentation methods. Researcher is the main instrument in research with the help of interview guides, observation, and documentation. The triangulation used to test the validity of the data is the triangulation of sources and methods. The results showed that: The process of forming Social Meaning starts from the Awareness stage and then the motive. Sungai Komering for Kelurahan Kedaton people naturally forms Subjective (Action). Intersubjective (Community). Objective (Rules) The appearance of Subjective. Intersubjective, and Objective Awareness of the Kedaton Village Community around the Komering River is to use the river as a place to live, form communities and form rules and hahits. The appearance of some of this awareness is captured by bringing up the motives of the Kedaton Village Community forming life in the Komering River, namely Because of Motive and In Order To motive, Because of Motive refers to the past, namely the historical side of the people in the river, namely the current study and carry out activities in the river, as well as the objective motive (in oreder moative), namely to he able to carry out activities, and to get the natural products that are beneficial to the community that generate profits from economic activities as well as become o communiy forum hi formingE Social cohesion.
