KAJIAN STRUKTUR ANATOMI SERAT BEBERAPA TUMBUHAN TEKI-TEKIAN (SUKU CYPERACEAE) DAN SUMBANGANNYA PADA PEMBELAJARAN BIOLOGI SMA
This study aims to find out the anatomical structure of stem fibers in some plants in Cyperaceae family. This research was carried out at the Biology Education laboratory of FTTE Palembang campus using descriptive methods. Observations are made by a maceration process and make transverse incisions in the stem, and are observed using a binocular microscope with magnifications of 40, 100 and 1000x. The observed parameters include (i) fiber length (ii) fiber diameter (iii) lumen diameter (iv) thickness of fiber wall. The results showed that of the three stems of the Cyperaceae family plants have an elongated cell-shaped libriform type fiber with tapered ends, fiber diameter, lumen diameter, and thickness of fiber walls with irregular shapes. The fiber on each stem of the Cyperaceae plant has a various size. The longest average fiber length is in Lepironia articulata with a length of 1660 μm. The average diameter of the widest fiber is in Cyperus alternifolius with a width of 10.5 μm. The widest lumen diameter is found in Cyperus alternifolius 6.7 μm. The thickest cell wall is on Scripus grossus with a wall thickness of 5 μm. This result can be used as basic information on fiber dimensions in some Cyperaceae plants. In addition, as an enrichment material in basic competence 3.3 "Analyzing the relationship between the structure of cells in plant tissues with the function of organs in plants", this research can also be used as a source of information for basic competence 4.3 in "Presenting data from observation of tissue and organ structures in plants". The donation was in the form of an identification guide book (Booklet).
