PROFIL SOSIODEMOGRAFI DAN PROFIL KLINIS PENDERITA YANG MENJALANI TERAPI TRANSCRANIAL MAGNETIC STIMULATION (TMS) DI RSUP DR. MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG.
Background: Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) was first introduced by Anthony Barker in 1985. TMS is a non-invasive method that is safe and painless. The working principle of TMS is by delivering extracranial electromagnetic waves that can traverse the bones of the skull or cranium. This study aims to determine the sociodemographic profile and clinical profile of patients undergoing TMS therapy at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. Method: This study used a descriptive observational research method with a cross sectional approach. The sample in the study were all patients undergoing Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) therapy at Dr. Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang in September-November 2022 and all medical records of patients undergoing Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) therapy at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang in January–June 2022. Result: In this study, there were 97 patients who met the inclusion criteria. The highest incidence rate was in patients undergoing Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) therapy, most of whom were aged 46–65 years (53.6%), male (54.6%), last high school education level (56.7%), and dominated by retirees (35.1%). Most of them were diagnosed with stroke (37.1%) and had clinical symptoms of hemiparase (33%). Hypertension is the most common comorbidity (45.4%). Conclusion: Characteristics of patients undergoing Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) therapy at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang Hoesin Palembang is mostly aged 46–65 years, male, last year's education is high school, and retired. The majority have a diagnosis of stroke, clinical symptoms of hemiparesis, and have comorbidities such as hypertension.
