RESPON TERMOREGULASI AYAM BOILER PADA UMUR YANG BERBEDA
Broiler chickens are livestock that are susceptible to high temperatures and humidity. More control of ambient temperature is needed in rearing of broiler chickens, especially at week 3 to week 5 since the chicken has lower ambient temperature requirements than in the early age. It is important to know the thermoregulatory responses of the chicken in the control of the temperature and humidity in the cage so a high mortality of chickens could be avoided. The purpose of this study was to compare the thermoregulatory responses of broiler chickens at the week 3, week 4 and week 5 of age. This study was conducted in a farm at Perumahan Sarjana Blok F, North Indralaya, Ogan Ilir from September to October 2021. This study used a completely randomized design with 3 treatments (different measurement times at the ages) with 27 replications. The measurement of the thermoregulatory responses (chest temperature, comb temperature, rectal temperature, and respiratory frequency) was carried out by measuring one chicken from each plot. The data were analyzed using analysis of variance and Tukey's test. The results showed that the increasing age of broiler chickens showed the increase in chest temperature, comb temperature, rectal temperature, panting and respiratory frequency.
