PENERAPAN CONVENTION ON THE ELIMINATION OF ALL FORMS OF DISCRIMINATION AGAINST WOMEN (CEDAW) DALAM RANGKA PEMBERDAYAAN PEREMPUAN DI MUSI BANYUASIN TAHUN 2018-2021
Gender-based discrimination is a non-traditional version of security issues that is often experienced by people at any time and to anyone. Gender-based discrimination is rooted in disparity and social construction due to a patriarchal culture and thinking system. In this regard, women and girls are the most vulnerable. So in order to end discrimination against women, the United Nations issued the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women or the CEDAW Convention on 18 December 1979. Indonesia also ratified the CEDAW Convention through Law Number 7 of 1984 concerning Ratification of the CEDAW Convention. The ratification has been formulated for regions, one of which is Musi Banyuasin Regency. Musi Banyuasin Regency has various regulations, strategies, and programs in the context of empowering women to end gender-based discrimination in Musi Banyuasin. This research applies descriptive qualitative research methods. This describes the application of CEDAW in the context of empowering women in Musi Banyuasin through the concept of an international regime and the implementation of an international regime. The implementation of the international regime includes dimensions consisting of international law, national law, and administrative acts. With derivatives of gender mainstreaming, gender responsive policies in the regions, and strategies and programs in the regions.
