ANALISIS KELIMPAHAN MIKROPLASTIK PADA PERAIRAN PULAU PAYUNG, SUMATERA SELATAN
Plastic waste is one of the marine debris that has become a problem because it takes a long time to degrade. Microplastics are the most dominating marine debris in the oceans. Microplastics that are contaminated and accumulated in organisms can cause physical damage and can cause toxicity, carcinogenesis and endocrine disorders. This study aims to analyze the abundance of microplastics, analyze the types and types of microplastics in the waters. This research was conducted in March 2021 in the waters of Payung Island, Banyuasin, South Sumatra. Identification of microplastic types using a binocular microscope and identification of microplastic polymer types using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) type thermo scientific Nicolet is 10. The results of the abundance of microplastics ranged from 1.16 to 2.16 particles/m3 with an average abundance of 1, 35 particles/m3. There are three types of microplastics found in this study, namely fragments, films and fibers. The types of microplastic polymers obtained in this study were polyethylene, polystyrene, polypropylene, and polyamide. Keywords: Microplastic, Abundance, Polymer
