DINAMIKA MUKA AIR DI SALURAN DAN CURAH HUJAN TERHADAP MUKA AIR TANAH PADA LAHAN GAMBUT YANG DITANAMI KELAPA SAWIT (ELAEIS GUINEENSIS JACQ)
Expansion of oil palm plantations on marginal lands such as peatlands has good potential if done properly. One of them is by making drainage to lower the water level so that the roots of the palms are proper. Therefore knowing the depth of the groundwater table and canal water level is important to regulate water. Rainfall is also an important factor in fluctuations in the groundwater level; if the intensity of rainfall increases, the recharge of rainwater increases and decreases during the dry season. This study aims to determine the relationship between the dynamics of the canal water level and the groundwater table, the relationship between the dynamics of rainfall and the groundwater table, and the surplus or deficit of water in peatlands. This research was conducted at PT Jambi Batanghari Plantation using a survey method with direct field observations. The results showed that the height of the groundwater table against the canal water level in peat soil has a very strong correlation, indicated by the correlation value between x and y of 0.931. when rainfall is continuous, there is an increase in the groundwater level, and the water in the peatlands at the study site shows a surplus because the groundwater level is above -40 cm. Keywords: canal water table, groundwater table, oil palm, peatland and rainfall.
