ISOLASI SENYAWA ANTIOKSIDAN PADA BATANG MANGROVE XYLOCARPUS GRANATUM DARI KAWASAN PESISIR BANYUASIN, PROVINSI SUMATERA SELATAN
Antioxidants are chemical compounds that have the ability to inhibit, suppress, and prevent the occurrence of oxidation chains that can produce free radicals. Uncontrolled free radicals can cause chronic diseases such as diabetes, cancer, inflammation, and cardiovascular disease. These chronic diseases can be reduced or prevented with antioxidants. Mangrove plants are one of the plants that have antioxidant potential. The Banyuasin Coastal Area, South Sumatra Province has a very wide mangrove ecosystem, one of which is the X. granatum which grows to the mainland. The purpose of this study was to determine and analyze the potential activity of antioxidant compounds qualitatively and quantitatively crude extracts and after isolation from mangrove trunks of X. granatum. The antioxidant activity test method uses DPPH reduction, while the isolation method used is gravity column chromatography and thin layer chromatography. The results of the antioxidant activity of several test concentrations qualitatively on crude extracts and isolates showed a change in color from purple to yellow so that it had antioxidant potential. Quantitative analysis of crude extract has high potency in methanol extract based on IC₅₀ value of 15ppm. After being isolated, the methanol extract showed a very strong antioxidant potential in fraction 3 with an IC₅₀ value of 14 ppm.
